Arts Club Charity Trust Award

Janine Baldwin with her artwork 'After the Rain' at the Pastel Society UK Annual Exhibition Janine Baldwin with her artwork 'After the Rain' at the Pastel Society UK Annual Exhibition

I am honoured to win the Arts Club Charitable Trust Award at the Pastel Society Annual Exhibition 2014, for my artwork ‘After the Rain’. The artwork is based on the landscape around Staxton village, on the edge of the Yorkshire Wolds. The landscape is beautiful there, especially when under snow. The textures and tones in ‘After the Rain’ reflect the snow covered fields and hedgerows. I used a combination of pastel, graphite and charcoal, scratching into the media to create an evocation of the layers of landscape.

It’s fantastic to be part of a show with such a diversity of dry media and the society itself has an impressive history of members and exhibitors, including Degas, Rodin and Whistler.
